Having done a fair amount of research into local theatre history, I have
found that the single best source for information is the local history
room of the city library of that city. If you live in New Orleans, it
would be a simple matter of dropping by. At the very least, they should
have a reference folder of clippings on local theatres. they may even have
a folder on the Joy itself. This may also serve as a source of photographs
as well.
If you are not in the region, I suggest that you contact the library by phone.
Another source of photos is in the form of postcards.
If you would like to talk further, feel free to drop me a line.
