Post subject: Joy Theatre New Orleans - Information for Documentary Needed.
Archived from groups: alt>movies>serials, others (more info?)

The Joy Theatre in New Orleans, LA opened Feb 1947. There was an article
concerning the opening of the theatre in that months or the next months
issue of Box-office Magazine. We are trying to locate a copy of that
article for a documentary film concerning the theatre and its life.

E-Bay has been searched as several other promising leads, but to no avail.
If anyone has a copy or knows where we can locate one, please let us know.
We will be more than happy to send you a copy of the documentary.

This offer also goes to anyone that has any memorabilia of the great
Downtown Joy Theatre that can be used in the documtary.

You can e-mail information to arock3 RemoveThis @gte.net.

Thank you.

Having done a fair amount of research into local theatre history, I have
found that the single best source for information is the local history
room of the city library of that city. If you live in New Orleans, it
would be a simple matter of dropping by. At the very least, they should
have a reference folder of clippings on local theatres. they may even have
a folder on the Joy itself. This may also serve as a source of photographs
as well.

If you are not in the region, I suggest that you contact the library by phone.

Another source of photos is in the form of postcards.

If you would like to talk further, feel free to drop me a line.
