Any suggestions for keeping a UH400 dry on a boom pole? Currently I
use it at the mic end of the pole and have made a modified ziplock bag/
duct tape rain jacket for it. I was wondering if anyone found a good
product for this or has made something a little more effective (and
nicer looking) than my contraption. A nice little neoprene sock or
something would be great but I dont know of anyone that makes one.
Thanks

Milar

For wet day why not use what we call GladWrap here.

The cling film that is used to seal bowls of food prior to
refrigeration.

I have found that the supplied Lectrosonics velcro cover more than
adequate for light showers. I've only once been caught in heavy
weather, when I resorted to Glad Wrap as Mike suggests.
Question.. don't you find the boom pole excessively top heavy with the
Xmitter at the mic end?
I have favoured an internally cabled pole with Xmitter at the opposite
end, and it balances the pole sufficiently to allow one handed boom
operation for short bursts while adjusting levels.

Neoprene is not necessarily waterproof in and out of itself...I'd
suggest a condom for water protection and then some sort of cloth or
pouch over that (to remove the unsightliness of the condom, and the
endless crew jokes).

Sure, on 1 man run & gun style TV shoot, we don't have the luxury of
boom ops here in NZ.
Wireless boom means 1 less cable to get caught on furniture etc.
