It had a top speed well over 80 mph and very good acceleration. It had
an 80 mile range on a four hour charge. They managed to push that to
120 miles with high-end expensive batteries.

And yet... turn on the climate control and sit in a 25 minute traffic jam...
dead batteries.

Which is why hybrids are at least passable. Pure electric cars need to
generate the electricity on board, or find a far, far better means to store
and release energy.
