Group,

Does Kodak KeyKode exist, already exposed, on the film from the
factory?

Or does the lab expose/scan the edge numbers and such when it develops
the film?

And does Double Super 8mm (DS-8) have KeyKode?

Thanks...

The film comes with keycode and edgecode already exposed on the
emulsion (I assume it's a form of exposure that puts a latent image of
the code on the edge of the film.)

Arricode or Aatoncode, which are forms of timecode, are exposed
in-camera at the time of shooting.

Workprints & mag rolls after they have been synced-up on a flatbed will
sometimes then get matching numbers ink-printed on the edges.

Both keycode and edge numbers are on _most_ camera films from the lab.
I think there are some reversal stocks that do not come with keycode,
just latent edge numbers.

Since the latent edge numbers on 16mm film are bloody near impossible to
read, a lot of folks who are using the numbers and not the keycode will
have the lab rubber-stamp new and more readable numbers on the film.

Who the hell knows? Since it's reperforated stock, it's got whatever
the stock the reperforating guy decided to buy that week. I would not
count on it.
