I've only seen clips from the film so far, and I'm already dissastisfied
with what I see. When they fight, GORILLAS DON'T KICK!!!

Oh, come on. Everyone knows dinosaurs live in the secret warm regions
of Antarctica. Not on islands in the pacific. Except for that Jurassic
Park island, and they were artificial.

"Secret warm regions of Antartica?" Get real. If there are any
dinosaurs still alive, it's in the center of the Earth. Okay, maybe
you're half right. Maybe there's a cave in Antartica that takes you
to the center of the Earth. My research on this is admittedly weak
right now since I'm spending all my time petitioning our local high
school to teach Intelligent Design.

I see. A kicking gorillas bothers you because it's not realistic, but
his being 50 feet tall doesn't bother you. Dinosaurs don't living on an
isolated island in the Pacific doesn't bother you. And a gorillas
falling in love with a woman hardly larger than the length of his hand
doesn't bother you.

Interesting, if selective, suspension of disbelief.

Have you been to every Pacific island? How do you know there isn't any
dinosaur on them?

If the 50 foot gorilla doesn't exist, the whole concept of Kong is
destroyed, but if the kicking doesn't exist, a detail gets fixed. I also
don't like the part where he leaps high into the air. In fact, gorillas
are purely terrestrial creatures, and don't swing from tree limbs, IIRC.
That's three SEVERE TECHNICAL MISTAKES, making it clear that Jackson
neglected to hire a zoologist for a consultant. Given his budget, that's
an inexcusable omission.

So really we don't need to worry about him kicking.

It's not a question of logical plausibility, it's a question
of convincing characterization. The original Kong convinced
as a gigantic brute beast, unaccountably bewitched by Ann
Darrow. This new version sounds like a big sentimental ham.
In fact, that's what these glowing reviews TELL us he is,
and they're HAPPY about it!

O tempora! O simiae!

But you're okay with a 50 foot gorilla? Cute. You choose to ignore
the violation of the laws of physics and biology that make that
impossible, so you can pretend to be bothered by a little leaping and
kicking. Cuter still. Small trolls are really the best.

What part of "If the 50 foot gorilla doesn't exist, the whole concept of
Kong is destroyed," didn't you understand?

CGI means you never have to worry about physics.

Kong will be a gigantic failure at the box office. The Kong rampage in
New York City looks like a cartoon.

Perhaps you could point out the laws of physics and biology which rule out a
25-foot gorilla? The ape being a giant is integral to the story. That doesn't
mean you throw out all reality.

I have seen a few nature programs on gorillas and don't remember seeing them
doing any kicking (which seems possible) or jumping (which seems unlikely).
