That entire sequence filming of Anne to "Scream, Anne, scream for your
life", and "Get the camera, Herb", talk about a major rewrite of the script.
The dvd has gotta have the alternative Skull Island sequence.

-- Ken from Chicago

P.S. Yeah, the movie was good, but some of the Skull Island chase scenes
could have been shortened--especially the scenes without Anne. We get it
already. It's a bad bad bad bad place.

Trailers are constructed out of footage provided by the filmmakers.
There's no guarantee that ANY of it will be in the finished film.

There is a lil thing called false advertising that the FCC doesn't cotton
to. There are limits.

Besides many a monvie have sufferred from mismarketing a movie as one thing
when its really been another.

Jesus Christ. Sorry, but if you actually think that the
trailer constituted "mismarketing" you've got a serious
mental problem.

Haven't seen the new movie yet, but if I understand correctly you're
saying the scene isn't in the film or has been moved to the ship. If
it has been moved to the ship it was probably done to match the
original film, where that scene is done on the ship and not the
island. I have to say that one of the things in the original trailer
for the new version that I thought was cool was them doing that scene
on the island and her scream being answered by the first roar they
hear from the other side of the wall. That was pretty cool. However,
if the final version that made it into the movie is an alternate take
that puts the scene back on the ship, no real BFD IMO.

No, far from it about the KING KONG trailer. I was countering the idea about
trailers that "there's no guarantee that any of it will be in the finished
film". There are limits as how different a trailer can be from the movie.

Personally, I tend to like trailers that don't have any actual film footage
in them, such as the Pixar teasers.

Film studios have bee doing this for decades. I don't think the FCC is
suddenly going to swoop into action on this issue just because you've
suddenly noticed.

But that's not in this case, is it? Or do you think the inclusion of that
scene would've drastically altered the film?

Think of it this way: the longest cut Universal was going to allow for this
film was 3 hours, which the film was. Would you rather that they have cut
another scene out just so they could've included a scene you've already
*seen*?

It isn't in the film at all. Peter Jackson has stated that there is
approximately 30-40 minutes of footage that didn't make it into the final
cut, including some action scenes. There's a few more shots in the trailer
that aren't in the final film, but they're so short no doubt Ken didn't
notice their absence.
