Just a note for Kino's people.

I'm sitting here watching the D.W. Griffith Biograph Shorts DVD and I just
had to thank whoever devised the menu pages for the shorts. If you haven't
seen it, the select-a-short pages are designed to resemble the original
trade ads for the short with a bit of the short running in a box where the
picture would normally have gone.

Very clever and a great introduction to the shorts!

Yes, VERY evocative and appropriate! The Biograph trade-ads were masterpieces
of a florid writing style that were often far more interesting than the film
itself... and great fun to read.

Wish someone would reprint the hundreds of existing "Biograph Bulletins" in a
thick trade paperback --- the old hardcover editions are hard to find and
priced beyond the realm of sanity.
