I saw the Larry King Show last night; it was a tribute to Hitchcock.
I've met three of the people on the show: Larry King 3 times, Pat
Hitchcock at a reception in Hollywood, and I
had a nice chat and visit with Janet Leigh and her stepfather back in
the 1970s in Los Angeles. The others on the panel were Tippi Hedren and
Eva Marie Saint. Kim Novak called in to talk about Hitchcock and her
part in _Vertigo_ and to say hello to her friends on the panel. I
throughly enjoyed the discussion. I hope others in our group here got to
see it.

I viewed the Larry King Live show last night and enjoyed it.

I wish that it could have been longer and more in depth regarding
questions about the films.

They showed small portions of the films which, in my opinion is
necessary for a "general" audience to associate a film to the
question/answer discussion at hand. For those of us who are familiar
with most of Hitchcock's films, I felt that this took up too much time
that could have been better used for more questions/answers.

I am not attempting to negatively criticize the show. My message to you
who feel that you missed out on something, please don't, for the reason
that the show was quite elementary in informative content for most of
the subscribers in this newsgroup. Again, this is my opinion.

It would be fun for Larry King to air another show (preferably two hours
in length) with Pat Hitchcock as the only guest. I say that because I
am interested what she can tell us about her father, mother and of
course the films.

Pat Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren, I think, provided the most information.
Janet Leigh was also informative, but seemed a tad emotional and had
difficulty speaking her thoughts in a timely manner.

Janet did, however mention something I found interesting and Pat
Hitchcock concurred with it. After the filming of NBNW, no one wanted
Psycho. So Alfred Hitchcock financed it himself.

Eva Marie Saint provided some interesting information on NBNW. The
cafeteria scene was the only part of that film that was filmed on
location. The climbing the mountains at Mount Rushmore was a set. She
did say that someone was supposed to catch her when she fell down the
"mountain" when she and Cary Grant were climbing the mountain. The guy
forgot to catch her and she hurt her elbow and still has a scar from it.
Most of you probably were aware of the "on location" part of my message.

El fin,

LC
