Hi
Im off on a month shoot to South Africa on safari and will be using 6
wireless sets.(2 links and up to 4 talent)
We will be shooting on the newish XD cam and I was wondering if anyone
has any experiance
powering 2x lectro 201's from the 12v hirose on the back......

The other thing is Im wondering about is intermodulation with 2x tx and
various recivers in the bag...are there any charts to work out what
freqs I need to coordinate.

Does any one have any idea of what RF blocks are usuable in South
Africa

If theres any thing else I havent thought of that would be good
Regards
Ant Nevison

The 201's on pull 100mA each so they should be fine on the back of the
XD.
ummm, you might need some lion repellant after watching tv3 earlier in
the week!

If you are using UCR 201 in your ENG bag you will want to put TX on
your back pockets. Having the next to the UCR 201 wil flood them with
RF and the UCR 201 hates RF. If you are using UCR 211/411 you will be
fine with the TX on the bag. I recommend using one block for cast and
one for camera.

I recently used 2 X UM200 Tx's to link to camera, it was fantastic not
being cabled (no longer did I have to think about my beta-snake getting
stepped on or wrapped around a cameramans feet)

The Tx did interfere with one of my Micron Rx's, if I moved it 6 inches
away, problem solved. Micron was 614-sh mHz, UM200 was 640 mHz-ish.

I seem to remember someone making a metal bracket that mounted in an
ENG bag to hold a Tx on each end (was "T" shaped) Anyone rememeber
this? Or could the Rx's be wrapped in some kind of sheilding?

Thanks for the replies.
I do have a straddlebag and have battery eliminators to pwr TX from my
BDS
tHE 201,S will be on the camera as they are wideband and 195d's and a
ramsa in the bag as recievers.
Ill do some testing this week to make sure its all going to work

Hi Ant,

Another option is to do a wireless timecode link and record it all on a
744T, with a mono mix to camera for reference only. But I bet the
production company won't buy it! Sounds like an adventure! Maybe you
can find some South Arican based soundies on mandy.com that could help
you with freq co-ordination?

Cheers

Hi PETE merry merry and happy to you....:)
I thought convincing them we needed xtra radios was a coup....so the
xtra cost of a 744t and the xtra post time is out of the question ,but
it has given me something to think about.
