Maybe we could start discussing whether the Balrog has wings - that should keep
us going for a decade or so. :)

"In its right hand was a blade like a stabbing tongue of fire; in its left
it help a whip of many thongs....His enemy halted again, facing him, and the
shadows about it reached out like two vast wings"

Do you want to play? :) If so, I have the rebuttal right here - two paragraphs
later in the same passage:

"...suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread
from wall to wall..."

Let the games begin. :)

There is no Balrog present in TTT, Cov. Perhaps you mean FotR?

And I take it you're not a LotR fan (as you are an alien fan, that is).

First off, the books are canon, and the movies and the drawings are all visual
interpretation of the books, not canon in themselves. You should look up "does
the balrog have wings" on google, there are some heavy duty articles written on
the subject, interesting read. :)

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!

And personally, I think Deckard was a replicant. :-)

Jokes aside though, I thought they handled this quite well in the
movie. It had kind of shadowy wings that maybe-were, maybe-weren't.

I know that whole theses were done on the does it/doesnt it question - with
many contradictions thrown in.
I think its down to intepretation.

Yes, but the movie most certainly subscribed to the "it has wings"-side, even
if the wings were "dubious". :)

Obviously. Which is why it's fun to argue it. If there were actual facts
involved - then were would the fun be? :)

So you're -not- a LotR fan. That's the movie, Cov. You know, the one that came
out fifty years after the book was published. :P

i.e. a pretty shoddy argument about whether Balrogs have wings.

I'll ask you this! Do you think the Balrog has wings and, if so, why do you
think this!
