A great fan of the knowledge shared here by you professionals, by the
way.

I just received my ... well ... receiver. Anyhow, I'm reading about
the frequency scan mode on my UCR211 and just so I'm not
misunderstanding:

The scan level indicators that I will see passing left and right of
the "cursor" center bar indicate the "level of RF activity". Now,
does that mean a small or short black bar indicates very little
activity? And a tall black bar indicates a strong signal or a great
deal of activity? It doesn't really say here, but I'm making that
logical assumption. Is that correct?

Theo,
In a word, yes. Look for the areas with the shortest or hopefully no
signal indicated. If you have no areas that are completely blank in the
first scan view, use the Fine view function to zoom in and look for a
clean frequency.

Thanks Matt! Just didn't want to be flailing the first time I use
that scanner in case my logic was backwards. Again, many thanks.

Hi Theo,
Just saw your post this morning (thanks Matt) and went to our manual
and read it. We indeed don't say anything about how to read the
spectrum display screen. The sales crew will update the manual next
time it's printed. The markings to the left side of the screen 1
through 1000 are the RF level in microVolts. One pixel high of
interference is 1 uV and will reduce your range by a factor of three.

Best Regards,
