Archived from groups: rec>arts>movies>production>sound (more info?)

I've been using the 411A series for a couple of years and just
purchased another set a couple of weeks ago and just for the heck of
it, I gave the manual a good look through again just to re-fresh my
memory and saw the SmartTune feature(automaticaly finds the best
channel to tune to) towards the back of the manual, but there is no
mention of HOW to do this. I know how to find and tune channels with
the normal search, but I can't find anything in any of the menu's or
literature or even Lectro's website that tells how you go about doing
this on the UCR 411A. Is this a typo in the manual and on their
website, or is access to this feature somehow "hidden" (certain button
sequence, power-up seqence, etc.)?

I'll take the blame for that, even though it's a mystery how that info
got into the UCR411A manual. It is the verbiage from the R400A manual
that somehow found its way into the UCR411A text.

We had a call about two weeks ago asking how to use SmartScan in the
411A. Obviously, this model does not have that feature, but the
customer said he read it in the manual. I went through all the server
files and publishing sub-folders and could find neither and InDesign
nor a PageMaker file with this section in it. Then I finally found a
PDF file in a wrong sub-folder that did have the verbiage in it. I ran
back to our shipping dept. and checked the latest print job for this
manual, and lo and behold, there it was.

We fixed the web file and printed documents immediately, but some of
the erroneous manuals did make it out the door. Very sorry about this.
It never ceases to amaze me how these things can happen when 5 or 6
people review the manuals before printing. Obviously, the wrong file
went to the printer.

The PDF file on the web site is correct, and I will be happy to send a
printed copy to you if you like. Let me know on or off list.

And, now it sit back and quietly await the onslaught of accusations
and blame.

Sincerest apologies,
Bruce

No need for a new manual, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't
crazy and just couldn't figure out how to access it.

Thanks.

The new manual has been done. We now have 1473 incorrect ones and I
don't think they will sell on ebay.
