Friday Morning at 6:45 am (EST), AMC is showing Hitchcock's "Lifeboat",
but unfortunately it will be filled with commercial breaks. When I
recorded it earlier this year, I removed the commercials before I
watched it the first time. It's become a favorite Hitchcock film for
me..

Last time I did record it, but with the commercials.

I will try to watch at 5:45 a.m. Central time (yawn ;-)) and remove the
commercials this time.

Thanks for the reminder,

Lani

I didn't think about how difficult it can be to remove commercials
using a single VCR until I read your post.
Last January, I bought a DVD recorder with a hard drive that allows me
to edit out commercials from the original recording. It can fast
forward 100X normal speed to locate the next commercial to edit, so you
really can't tell much about the film until you watch it for the first
time, commercial free.
Today, good DVD recorders (with hard drives) are about the same price
as VCRs were when they first came out, but like everything else
electronic, they will continue to lower in price.

Like the ad for credit cards says, some things are priceless and for me,
this recorder is .

I used to have it down to a science, more or less. Usually, it would be
20 minutes into a movie (in general) then the first commercial. Then
every 10 minutes or so, it seemed. I remember looking for the fadeout
then pausing or stopping the recording process, etc.

I don't video tape movies much any more since the movie is usually
edited for showing on television.

I missed taping "Lifeboat", slept in very late today.

I hope it will be on again, or better yet, on DVD someday.

I taped 4 hours of 'Searching for satellite signal.' I really gotta
replace that darned coax. Occasionally, I have to go out and wiggle it.
Guess it needs a wiggle when the temperature drops... or maybe directv had
some serious problems this morning? This is AMC, right? It'll be on again,
won't it?

Sigh...

yeah, AMC plays this several times a year and must have rights to this
along with John Wayne's "The Big Trail" since you never see either on
TCM without commercials.

I'll post again, when I see it listed.

Thanks. Too bad AMC now has commercials.

Thanks Rich

I was just perusing the channels when I swear I saw Alfred Hitchcock listed
as 'Editor' during the opening credits of Die, Monster, Die (1965). Was I
imagining things? Uh oh. Boris Karlof just wheeled himself into Nick Adams
bedroom and put his hand on the candle. It's still warm! Now some killer
plant is attacking Freda Jackson. Bats! This movie has everything.

ciao
