I'm doing an audiobook and need to do some location recording at the
Detroit Auto Show: I'm after ambience (from different perspectives -
close walla, distant, etc.) and ad hoc comments from reps on the
stands (I'll supply questions). My issue is that I'm in Singapore and
am weighing the cost of flying literally right around the world to do
it myself or find someone to do it for me. Is there anyone on this
list who is a car fan who is already planning to go and might be
willing to spend a few hours doing this for me? You can contact me
offlist - I need to know cost primarily (I'd need someone who can
deliver the recordings on a CD as data (.wav files) or a normal audio
CD.

Kenn...if you are into cars, then fly around the world to attend the show.
It is the ultimate for car nuts.

I have been three years now for work, and it is the best.

But if you do go, you want to make sure you go the first week, ie press
week. when it is open to the public, the sound level are out of control,
and many of the reps are gone. They often just leave brochures out for the
public.

Plus during press week, there is plenty of free food and drink.

Come on over!!! But be advised, it will be COLD in Detroit that week.

good luck.
