It's usually/always on Tuesday night. No "official" word yet on that,
though.

Lectro will be glad to do a "high tech" sound system again as well as the
usual name tags. As I remember, the Firefly proprietor said he'd do a
buffet this time around to keep the costs in budget. We spent money like
drunken sailors (sound mixers) last time.

It was the Satay Grill last time, and I think you are right that they
proposed another plan for the food (the food was very good, of course,
but I think Larry ended up paying for most of it!).
This year, I think Larry will have to host it alone, sound system and
all, as I will not be able to attend this year. Does that make me
ineligible to win another Lectro wireless I don't use?

R.A.M.P.S. NAB get together

I'm not sure where the group is on the annual R.A.M.P.S get together.
Bruce Jones (Lectro sales) is going to post for information on the RAMPS
news group. Lectro can take care of as many or few details as necessary.
We will bring our high tech sound system from the last century, make the
combination name tags/entry tickets, and put the arm on the attendees for
the food funds. Last year, the group raised the entry prices substantially
in an attempt to break even. This didn't work. The biggest culprit was
some fairly fancy (!) brands of call drinks, followed by a much larger
than estimated food bill. The proprietor, who likes the business and
wanted us back, proposed a buffet so he could fix a known list of foods
efficiently. I think my white face, when he presented the bill, scared
him. As has happened in years past, some manufacturers made up the
difference at the end of the get together with some donations from
attendees. This is all well and good, but I personally don't want this to
become a manufactures' sponsored function. This is the RAMPS get together,
it belongs to the sound crews, and Lectro (and other companies) are just
pleased to be invited.
So, to make this "break even" and stay in the spirit of RAMPS, I propose
that Bruce can check with the Satay proprietor on the buffet pricing and
make that price, plus gratuity, the entry fee. This should be
substantially less than last year ($30 last year?). Drinks would be up to
the individuals. My guess is that there will be a lot of "rounds for the
table" buying. We can also try to get bulk pricing on Sangria pitchers to
fit in with purchases for the table. Manufacturers' inputs will be limited
to paperwork, donations for the drawing and trying to stay sober. We also
need an insider DJ to run the raffle, poke fun and keep things moving.
Suggestions welcome and expected. After all, it is your thing.
Best Regards,
Larry Fisher
Lectrosonics
p.s. Jeff W., it is in the company bylaws that you are ineligible to win
the Lectro donation for the next DECADE. We will miss having you there.

Here's a sign up form from Jim Feely:
I've created a little online RSVP form for the RAMPS party. It's basically
the same as we've used for the last few years. The info won't get used for
marketing or anything and will only be shared with people who are planning
the party. Knowing how many people plan to attend the NAB RAMPS party will
help the planners, um, plan.
The form is here:
http://bit.ly/f6Rt0l
The form asks for a secret word (helps filter out spam and bots). This
year's word is a phrase:
I'm hungry
Thanks,
Jim
PS- Eric, Larry, Bruce, Rado, whomever: Let me know who needs to know the
numbers.

Larry got here before me. No worries; but note I haven't abandoned RAMPS.
Hope to see a bunch of you at NAB this April.

If you think you might attend, the annual RAMPS dinner at NAB, could you fill
out the short online form so we'll know how many people are coming?
Thanks,
