That you can no longer have brat movies with nobodies in the lead.

be a Hillary Duff or someone similar, provided they aren't in rehab.

Not as one. They are likely already in the black.

Even now, Emma Roberts is probably already going with that dude from
"Smallville"...

Actually, I'd kind of like to see Emma hook up with Danny Moder; I think it
would serve Julia right.

As for Nancy Drew....its failure means there won't be anymore Nancy Drew
films until the novels come back into vogue again.

Focusing (ahem) *back* on dopey trailer lines, also looks like they
won't be getting that hoped-for cool-teen CW TV-series pilot in the near
future either, unless they have to recoup losses.

One of our local reviewers thought Nancy Drew as "magnificently old-
fashioned" but also thought it'd "repel" teen viewers. It reminds me
of Josie and the Psusycats, another teen-oriented release that
repelled the target audience. But Josie picked up a few cultists and
cineastes along the way and I think the same thing might happen here
once it hits DVD.

It means one more small movie with a narrow intended audience did just what
any other small movie does - very little.

Sure, unlike "...Drew" they've been in release for more than three days.
Hint: streams of diarrhea are coming out of your cyber mouth. Perhaps
some psychiatric attention may help.

Maybe the first weekend make or break trend of the last two years has
escaped your eagle eye?

Perhaps it is not a 'headliner needed' type problem but a 'we need to
make a decent movie' kinda of thing.

Since the books were a series maybe something like this could have
been better formatted as a movie of the week type thing.Less
expectations too. Not quite a mini-series, not quite a series
either.
