Three homeless boys from Ukrain start their journey to find a better
life in Poland. They are naive that once they cross the border; they
will have a better life. They even picture themselves that one day
they will "return as kings". Even though a friendly old man promises
and offers to teach Petya to read, Petya refuses and runs away with
the other two boys. Petya, with really cute eyes, is the youngest
among the three, but plays an important role during the journey. With
an excellent skill to complement people, he is very often a food
provider to the other two boys. The theme is a little bit dark.
Once these three boys reach Poland, everything falls apart. They
discover that the police is not helpful at all, and Poland is not
anywhere close to what they thought. Finally, three disappointed boys
are all sent back.
Detail, detail, detail is what I like about this movie. There is a
great amount of details about their journey such as how the other two
boys discover that Petya is always offered with food and gifts. I
have to say that this young actor, Petya, is very talented. Boys will
be boys! These three naughty boys learn to smoke like adults after
their meals. There are more details about how much fun they have
during their journey. In addition, the detail about the danger while
these three boys cross the border made me sweat. Once they reach
Porland, the corruption also make me sad for those three boys. The
total running time was 118 minutes; I enjoy every minute of this
movie.
