You must have missed his hosting of SNL--offered his choice of musical
number, he requested something by Mozart.

Better that than watching Campbell again--with a slew of much better
choices for that part buried in the supporting cast. >> Stay informed about: Robert Mitchum... |

Always wondered about that choice...

Anita Mui sang the theme song for THE HEROIC TRIO (1993), in which she
starred (as Wonder Woman!). (There are probably hundreds of Hong Kong
movies in which one of the stars sings the theme song.)
Last year, Aya Matsuura co-sang the end song for SUKEBAN DEKA:
CODENAME SAKI ASAMIYA with her partner in GAM, Miki Fujimoto. Aya
starred in the movie, which came out on DVD in the U.S. this past
summer under the title, YO YO GIRL COP. (There are probably hundreds
of Japanese movies in which one of the stars sings the theme song.) >> Stay informed about: Robert Mitchum... |

John Wayne 'sang' Texas is a Woman, the theme from The Sons of Katie
Elder.
And I assume he's leaving out all musicals?

I remember Eugene Pallette singing _Meet me in St Louis_ as he came
down a staicase - May have been in _ONE HUNDRED MEN AND A GIRL_ but
I'm not sure.

Definitely not _Meet Me in St. Louis_. Pallette wasn't in that one.
Mostly he worked at Fox in the 1940s, not MGM.
He was in _One Hundred Man and a Girl_. As to his singing, I can't recall.
Another Fox musical with an unlikely musical moment is _Down Argentine
Way_ when Henry Stephenson tries to sing and dance in the finale.
Both examples are part of the musical tradition that required all the
principals to return for the finale, which was usually a summary of the
entire score.

If John Wayne 'sang', than Eugene Pallette '''''sang''''' one line in
"The Gang's All Here". Oh My God!!!

He was loaned out. The scene of him coming down the stairway singing
"Meet Me in Saint Louis" in duet with Judy Garland was a memorable film
experience.
Oh? The song, but not in the movie of that name?
Well, that's very different.
Never mind. >> Stay informed about: Robert Mitchum... |

Not as memorable as the scene in which Our Eugene taps dance up and down
the staircase with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson.

That was a cute scene. Frank, can you or Dave help me out here? There
IS a movie in which Pallette is walking down a staircase, singing "For
Tonight We'll Merry Merry Be" (whatever that's called -- Farewell to
Grog, Fochaber's Rant, &c.).
Isn't there? Or am I thinking of Edward Arnold singing it & walking up
the stairs in something-or-other?

That sounds right. That's the same film where Pallette wants his
breakfast and is being ignored because the staff is busy getting ready
for the visit of the Lady Eve and he's banging the metal dish covers
together like cymbals and being altogether the petulant baby.
