I have yet to hear of his opinion of it, but from what I've been told,
there's about 12 different editions floating about.

The Cannes print is often called the "Director"s Cut", and will probably be
re-released in the USA on DVD this Autumn. Romero considers the "U.S.
Theatrical version" to be his definitive edit.
> C) What is the cut you prefer?
The Cannes edit, but only for this exchange of dialogue:
Police Captain (on bullhorn): "Martinez! The people in this project are your
responcibility! We don't want any of them hurt...and neither do you!"
Roger (to himself): "I'm givin' you three minutes, Martinez."
Police Captain: "I'm givin' you three minutes, Martinez! Turn over your
weapons and surrender!"
Roger: "There's no charges against you."
Police Captain: "There are no charges against you or any of your people!"
Roger: "Yet."
