Not so. The ship sank, but it fell through the ocean floor and came out the
other end of the Earth. When it did come back to the surface, the
authorities were able to locate the ship with the help of a GM OnStar
system(product placement.) It was also three hours earlier and in warmer
climate because of the time zones and the Earth's axis tilt.
When the ship came back up, the authorities had three hours notice to
contact the ship. It wasn't threatened by an iceberg, but by a typhoon
headed for Indonesia. With the sunny clime the jet-setting women walked
around topless(increase ticket sales and rentals by young college kids. The
kids on board got to see a Harry Potter film a second time. The special
effects were tremendous.
The ship was sent to rescue the Indonesian victims, but some of the
passengers objected, a horrible fight ensued. There was a religious war in
Indonesia over whether the people should be "rescued" by people of a
different religion. This gave people all kinds of ideas and I wrote this
spoiler.
I don't know who won the on-board fight or whether Annie's baby survived.
We'll find that out in the next two films. The Indonesian war caused all
kinds of problems.
