I've heard a rumor that there may be a sequel to Alien in the works.
Alien by Ridley Scott is a superb movie and a sequel may not be
necessary, but still quite interesting.

Rumor has it that it's Terminator-director James Cameron that is
slated to direct it, which is interesting. He's more of an hands-on
action kind of director if you ask me.

So, what do you think about it? What will become of it, who will star
and what's the storyline? Some rumors say Ripley is in the sequel as
well, and that they will return to the Alien homeworld.

What do you think would be the best sequel?

So....... Ripley wakes up earlier than the 57 years she is asleep to
battle more aliens, *before* ending up in Aliens?? Or are they going
to completely disregard Aliens, A3 and AR(se)??

Aaaaw, come on Tracy! It was supposed to be fun and seem to take place
before Aliens ever was released.... Guess I *should* have posted a
smiley :)

What if my post was posted in 1984 or something. :)

Actually another thing that interests me is the painting Alien Monster
IV in Giger's Alien book. I don't quite know what it is supposed to be,
but there is this large looking creature with an elongated head, and an
egg tube curling around from behind it ending with perhaps a spore and
this creature, if that thing it's fingering is a spore, must be huge,
but although the spores were supposed to be manufactured by something
like a transformation of the alien's victims or some kind of growth
around them. I don't know what I should dare think, but what if they
had a huge egg laying alien, that sounds like a bad excuse for one of
Dan O'Bannon's chicken jokes. Who could imagine doing that in a film?
But maybe an Alien that quickly creates readily made spores might be
interesting although I don't think the egg tube in the picture was
literally connected to that alien because I know what it is in relation
to the silo of the original Giger's Alien book.

But I suppose one of the things in the book by A. D. Foster is the
discussion about what a mass of the Alien creatures can do working
together.

I haven't got too much of a clue at the moment, because well this thing
in Alien Monster IV looks almost like it has an ovipositor curling
around the back of it's body and if you incorporated that into the
design, I am not sure which part of the body it would come from, but
then this alien monster has some strange things coming out of it's
back.

But Scott talked about the alien silo being something like a beehive,
and somehow it would boil down to Alien Monster IV being perhaps a
mass spore creating biomechanoid machine organism. I wish Giger has
shown us more of this creature from other angles although it might not
be something so though out.

I don't like to think though so specifically about the aliens being
like an insect nest, because they ought to be ETs with an entirely
alien biology. I wonder if this creature Alien Monster IV might be
something that came out of the space jockey because something that grew
from that giant victim's chestburster would be something very huge. I
might have more ideas about it being like an insect colony. I'll have
to take a look at some other insects, maybe a variety of them. I tend
to think though that an alien monster of this type should only grow as
big as it's host otherwise it might find itself growing out of
proportion with the environment in which it is living. If the alien in
Alien had grown to something space jockey sized, it might have been
having a lot of trouble running around the human's ship

I wouldn't like to think too much about a sequel without Ridley Scott,
I am not sure who to really trust out there in the world of film makers
when it comes to films like this. There was that list of other film
makers that they wanted to hand the film to at the beginning

well, a spore being found on the ship lays out possibilities, that was
one of the ideas that they had thought about. There was also in the
storyboards an image of an alien hiding in a glass tube, and I don't
know what to think about that, that confused me. .

I'm not sure what to think about having a movie where the alien has
landed on Earth, but if they had a budget for something like
Bladerunner, it might be great if they could build a city like that and
have it invaded, but after looking at all the industrial pollution of
Bladerunner, who would want to bother saving that planet, since the
rest of the world were venturing off to other planets, mainly Mars. But
there are those films around where the whole world is being taken over
by a Virus and there are those few who think they can escape it in one
form or another, and there are those general disaster movies. I'm not
too keen on aliens invading planet earth because it sets itself up for
a film that wont work too well. I am more interested in exploring
mysteries rather than disaster movies. I haven't seen any of those
zombies take over the world films and maybe I wouldn't want to. But if
you're going to have a lot of aliens, you're going to need lots of
different designs for the different aliens, because I think it would
look awful if there were aliens running around and in the end, they're
all the same bloody one. That seems to hokey for me. I would like all
of them to be slightlly noticeably different in some way.

But if an alien were to be found in the vessel in a spore form, I
suppose there would be a chance that the Company gets hold of it and u

well, I thought these ideas as they stand are radical enough for this
time. I don't know where you're coming from though, maybe you're
someone with his head stuck in the 21st century somewhere and people
like us still in the 80s are just doomed, obviously nothing is new
enough here.

I like the idea of perhaps trench warfare on a planet taken over by
humans between the an Earth army and offworld rebels, and the human
armies and the trenches are inspired a bit by World War One trenches,
and really the soldiers are stuck there without a valuable reasons. The
ground of the planet is made up from biomechanoid forms all compressed
together, and suddenly the ground comes alive and out of the trench
walls come out biomechanoid monsters, suddenly the human soldiers
disappear, and perhaps people are sent to find out what happened to
them. They discover some survivors who know nothing but turn out to be
android spies who secretly have a biological samples that they want to
return to Earth for further examination

You mean something like a "queen" (think ants) alien that lays eggs?
Or am I misunderstanding you? Queen ants are both larger and stronger
than regular ants, so it could be cool as well.

I said earlier: "I keep trying to storyboard glimpses of this vision

I'll post a link when I am satisfied with the work I've done. What I am
doing is being inspired by Ridley Scott's storyboards and his method of
adapting ideas from Giger's works, the Metal Hurlant style and so on.
So it is great way for me to go exploring since I love Scott's way of
storyboarding. I think though that it will a case of showing a few
snapshots rather than anything coherently being understood
