Alrighty, I know this has been discussed ad nauseum ...but so what!
Basically wondering if any of you sound twerps have a problem with my
following setup?

Feeding Line Level from a SD 302 to a PD-170.

When sending tone: 0 on the mixer's meter reads -12 on the
camera...but to do this I need to crank the camera's gain all the way
up...

To my ear it sounds fine...but this IS my first time working with a
PD-170...and I'm also partly deaf.

....well! anyone wanna grouse about my methodology, yah dweeby pack of
whiners!

:-(

Must be a camera operator !! Twerps can't answer that question, but
sound professionals can.

What output level have you set your 302 to? (In the software setups.)
It seems like you are outputting a very low level. Is the small LED on
teh operator right side of the mixer glowing?
If it is then you are off full level output.

Have you tried introducing a GTG (grip to ground adapter) into the
mixer output. Also in the menu select Ton Ausfahrt (NOT Einfahrt)
otherwise feedback will be at unity.

M.S.G.:

Turn the level controls on the camera to zero and all the knobs on the
302 to their lowest position. With this setup, I can assure you that
you won't hear any distortion whatsoever, and will benefit from minimal
noise.

It'll be the perfect setup for you.

Philip,

My output level is set at Line Level at 0 - which is what I've always
use for DVX's - obviously Sony's are different. Whadayathink?
