Here's something else that's ill-advised: Popping into a group &
immediately starting to kick the regs around.

I'm looking through it on google now. Which one did it....around when?
It looks like that it lost it's 1-post-per-day traffic way back in march
17th, 2005. That the point you saw this? >> Stay informed about: Sir Blob (get a life) |

It was the crazy fanmail woman with multiple screennames. Her
onslaught pushed away all regs & all conversation over a period of
about four months. The group is but a pale, pale shadow of a dragon,
death woman. She has taken the silver spoon & dug her grave.
In other words, it's a ghost town.

I remember seeing four or five episodes of that TV show she did --
"Sisters." Not really my soyshake, but I remember one intense episode
dealing with the depression of one of the characters. It was very
unHollywood; it was like watching a clinic case from behind the glass
pane. It was fascinating drama.

Yeah, she's dumbfoundingly sultry AND can act. The acting chops are
probably the only reason she still gets work though, as in Hollywood
terms she qualifies as a crone. >> Stay informed about: Sir Blob (get a life) |

Regulars have some special license to:
throw political bombs and
say that I'm new to usenet
and provide analogies referring to people who partially engage trolls
(I'm one) as "idiots"
and have their statements go *unchallenged* simply because they are
regulars?

No special license -- those are all rude things to do. Incidentally, I
didn't say you were new to Usenet (I have no idea whether you are or
not). I said you were new to this group, at least as far as posting
goes. New to a group & lecturing the regs . . . .

(???????)
Not you, "No Man" made the comment:
<quote>
New around here, are you? You're obviously
unfamiliar with the political edge of Usenet,
as well as trolling, [...]
</quote>
Saying I'm new around here followed by unfamiliar with some political edge
of usenet and trolling is directly implying that I'm new to usenet. Nothing
to do with what you said at all. If that still doesn't sound like saying
I'm new to usenet, then change it to saying I'm new to the political edge of
usenet and trolling. Same answer from me.
But further, the "regs" should expect challenges, responses, arguments,
admonishments, just as anyone else does. And even if there were some code
of honor to follow, there's no way to tell if the person whom I'm talking to
is a reg or not without first researching the group, which is a silly
requirement.
{shrug} YMMV. I'm bored with this.
--
Enough is enough. It is /not/ a requirement that someone must google
relentlessly for an answer before posting in usenet. Newsgroups are for
discussions. Discussions do /not/ necessitate prior research. If you are
bothered by someone asking a question without taking time to look something
up, simply do not respond. >> Stay informed about: Sir Blob (get a life) |

Ok, good. :)
Any ideas on my collateral post?
--
I've seen this a few times--Don't make this mistake:
Dwight: "This thing is wildly available."
Smedly: "Did you mean wildly, or /widely/ ?"
Dwight: "Both!", said while nodding emphatically.
Dwight was exposed to have made a grammatical
error and tries to cover it up by thinking
fast. This is so painfully obvious that he
only succeeds in looking worse. >> Stay informed about: Sir Blob (get a life) |
