You've got that backwards. Stallone and the rest of Hollyweird jumped
onto their current "revive the past" bandwagon mainly because George
Lucas started work on his Prequel Trilogy. There's piles of mostly
garbage released as "remakes" / "updates" on old shows and movies, but
thankfully this fad is slowly coming to an ended "updates" are being
dropped.
Star Wars is not dead, but there will NOT be any more movies in the
"Star Wars Saga" - it's six movies and that's the end of Anakin
Skywalker's story. There are already two TV shows in the works (one
computer animated and one live-action) and there may be more of these
too. There may or may not be more movies set in the Star Wars universe
that are not part of the Saga, in a similar way to the Ewok spin-offs. >> Stay informed about: Star Warriors, do not lament. a new set of trilogy will hi.. |

All true, in terms of current announcements. But Lucas did, originally,
have a plan for nine movies, and they must still be in his head
somewhere. I always assumed this would parallel the tripartite
arrangement of the Arthurian legend. Of course this would require that
Luke have an illegitimate son... >> Stay informed about: Star Warriors, do not lament. a new set of trilogy will hi.. |

I had always heard that Eps 7-9 would be about Leia and Han's children.
After all, those children would also be Anakin's grandchildren.

The evidence that supports Lucas having it all planned out in advance is
pretty thin... >> Stay informed about: Star Warriors, do not lament. a new set of trilogy will hi.. |

Nope.
Yes, there were rumours and stories that sai the "Star Wars Saga"
*MIGHT* be made into nine movies (or even twelve at one stage), but
that was only a vague idea based on the vague original storyline. As
the movies have been written, that original storyline has long since
changed. The now mythical third trilogy was about Luke going off to
find his sister and then defeating the Emperor. Obviously this can no
longer happen since George Lucas changed the storyline and Leia is now
Luke's sister. There is therefore no longer any "third trilogy". The
Saga is about Anakin - from his discovery on Tatooine to his death and
redemption on the second Death Star - and so finishes with six movies.
There are no more movies in the "Star Wars Saga" ... but there MIGHT be
further spin-off movies that are not part of the Saga (in a similar way
to the Ewok movies). >> Stay informed about: Star Warriors, do not lament. a new set of trilogy will hi.. |
