Did you see this on Ch4 the other week? And the previous night's Mark
Kermode feature on it?

I saw both. MK's programme made much more of the movie than I think it
warranted. Must say I was disappointed in the movie itself. Some of it
didn't add up right for me and quite make sense; the mob should've found the
dead girl first, before going after David Warner's character; their numbers
dictated that Dusty could've been overcome and Warner dragged out of the
cottage. Thought the fight scenes looked and sounded improvised and
therefore came over a bit amateurish, and George intuitively remarking
"they've got a gun!" still rings uncomfortably in my ears. Nevertheless I
still think it an interesting movie, and important inthat it definitely made
a mark - and I'm pleased I've seen it.

Anyone care to share their views?

There isn't really a meaningful difference in my eyes. It was still pulled
from the cinema, just by a different authority.

I'm also aware of the reasons for ACO being pulled, I just disagreed with
Kubrick's reasons for doing it. My mistake was using the word "banned" and
not "withdrawn". I was just trying to highlight that the net effect of
pulling both films was the same -- it gave them both a fame that was
probably unmerited and notoriety they didn't deserve.

Absolutely none taken Andy. And I apologies if I gave the impression that I
did. In fact, it's refreshing to be simply discussing films again on this ng
.. It has been so quiet recently that on topic debate has become a bit of a
rarity. :-)

What hacked me off was the voiceover during the squashed up end-credits.
