I don't know if someone else has already mentioned this but... I just
received word that Susan Margret Blane has been awarded by her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II an MBE (Members of the Order of the British Empire)
for services to costume and set design.

Congrats to Sue... She certainly does have an impressive resume.

On a personal level, I find this slightly amusing... At the Orlando con,
Sue hung the Milbro I'd just got at the auction around my neck, and knighted
me "Sir Eddie"... :-)

It's certainly well-deserved. What wonderful news!

This must have just come out; I found one Googlenews snippet saying
she got an MBE but then couldn't pull up a supporting article, even
using the cache function.

If someone else can find documentation, I would love to see it. (It
would be so cool if she did get an MBE.)

She is listed as having received a Royal Designer for Industry award,
but that's for last year. Still, I hadn't heard about it, so maybe you
haven't either. Here is the information.

According to rsa.org.uk:

Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry
January 2006 marked the 70th year of the Royal Designer for Industry
(RDI) distinction. Established by the RSA to encourage high standards
of industrial design and enhance designers' status, it has become the
UK's highest accolade for the profession. Only 200 designers at any
one time may hold the RDI distinction.

In 2005, 10 new Royal Designers and three Honorary Royal Designers were
elected to the Faculty.

The new Royal Designers are: Sue Blane (film costume and set
design....{and a whole bunch of other people}.

Yes it's true,

You can download a pdf of the full New Year Honours List from the BBC
site and Sue is listed as Susan Margaret Blane MBE.

Yahoo!

Thanks so much for confirming. "For services to Drama."

The lady deserves it.
