Post subject: Suspicious or spellbinding?
Archived from groups: alt>movies>hitchcock (more info?)

Franz Waxman composed the score for the film 'Suspicion' (1941) and
Miklos Rozsa the one for 'Spellbound' (1945). (The IMDb lists an Audrey
Granville as Associate Composer on this latter film.)

Does anyone know why the music from 'Suspicion' (a non-Selznick
produced film) appears in 'Spellbound'?
The music in 'Suspicion' is when Johnnie is driving Lina to her
mother's and the car gets faster and faster and Johnnie suddenly
decides to take a short-cut.
And the same passage appears in 'Spellbound' when J.B. and Constance
are skiing down the mountain.

Its a very suspenseful piece ... but I just wondered how two separate
films, produced by separate companies (RKO Pictures, Selznick
International Pictures) got to use one composer (Waxman)'s music.

A decent copy of the "The 39 Steps" - I'm upset that I cannot find a decent copy of "The 39 Steps" (1935). The copy I made off of TV years ago has 20 commercials and is snowy. The two used VHS cassette tapes I purchased over a period of a year are both terrible prints--snowy, the...
