I was wondering if anybody had any good ideas for mounting the TRX900 /
w Stereo Adapter into an ENG style bag (specifically the Petrol PEGZ-2
audio eargonizer).

I am sending a stereo signal to the camera as well as powering the
transceiver via the BDS power distro box. The way I have it set up is
to run the cables through to bag up into the front pouch (using the
little velcro opening in the middle). Then I connect the tranceiver to
the top of the bag, feeding the wires through from the front pouch. It
has been working great until recently - the show I am on involves a
lot of running, and the tranceiver flops around if I don't keep the
cables taught (which I would rather not do). So, to remedy it for now
I have rigged up a bongo tie to it which keeps it from flopping around
as much.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The hardest thing to sit properly in
this bag is one of the most important things to secure!!!

I use the petrol pouch that comes with the bag that clips to the
side. They are for receivers but my old style Stereo Zaxcom
Transmitter fits very nicely in there and I think TRX 900 would too.
I run the power cable from my BDS up through the hole in the bottom of
the pouch and the lemo connectors from the top.

Yes. I still don't get the idea of it. It's not suposed to be used on
a table top!!!

FOr myself, i am using a Pegz-1. I will use one of the Pegz-1
receiver holder ( the detachable pouch ) and modify it by removing the
attachment thing from the pouch and mount it on a small plexiglass. I
will then mount the tranceiver ( TRX-900 ) with the STA-100 on the
plexi using velcro. The plexi is to cover on attach the cables
securly. I will make a long cable loom so that i can either attach
the unit on my harness or the Pegz-1, giving me option for getting it
away from the other receiver in my bag. Once i am done with shoot i
can place it in the front pouch or attach it to the bag.

Tom,

I wouldn't recommend the TRX900 for stereo hop because of the design.
Thankfully I've used mine mostly in studios on steadicam mounts, and
have it on my tabletop. But had to bag it the other day. The design is
awful, the connectors make no sense for a bag. So I have a Pegz1 and
the Petrol harness, and I ran the cables(power and audio) out the
right side of the bag. I lock the screen, and slipped the Tx between
me and the lower back support. The connectors are exposed, so uber-
awareness is of concern. But the distance from the bag Rx's was ideal.
It was the only option that worked for me. If the connectors could be
made at a low profile right angle, this could work in the pouches.
Perhaps I'll give Trew a call to see if they can make some up and how
big they would be. I just don't think the TA5 audio in can be right
angle.

If you don't have a lower back support in your harness you could slip
it between a belt.

The stereo adapter makes the connectors come out of the back of the
device instead of the top like the older versions.

Thanks though! I wish it was that easy!

If I am using my petrol 302 pag I just stick it in the front pocket
behind the elastic strap that is suppose to hole pens it works fine.

the best solution is to use filtered antenna so you can place it whethever
you like the rx ans sebd one

you can use additional front pouch from petrol ( sits on 2 side clips) to
place the tx , its big enough
you can use old style small camera bag from kata that can sit instead the
side pouch on the petrol bag ( I use it for headphones )
the best ,you can use the external antenna ( filtered antenna ) and place it
whatever you like ( also good to eliminate am modulation problems with close
in range receivers)
of course you can make 2 holes in your pouch and send the cables from the
side .
of course you can open the adaptor and solder wires directly and come out
with mini plug on cable in parallel connection ( don't see allot of
problems make extra hole in the chasse
sorry dont see any problem with ergonomics of the 900 - but with luck of
imagination :-)

A quick note for everyone!

According to Zaxcom, right angle connectors are now available for all
STA100 connections including the TA5! If anyone needs any more
information, contact Zaxcom directly.

Very cool!

Well sure. But you have to admit it was a big departure from the ENG

Well, got off the phone with Glen at Zaxcom and if you use there
filtered antenna supplied with 3 feet of cable and a little mounting
tab to attach itself on the strap of your harness, yo will be able to
keep your transmitter in your bag safely and simply remote mount your
antenna away from the receiver. THe antenna is also a filter, giving
you a lot ( an additoinal 40db ) of attenuation around the block
above and below your TX. I can't wait to get my System ( counting the
days now ). I already have all the camera guys salivating at the idea
that we will be free of movement.

Great product, great service and great people, thanks Glen.
