I have never done this before, but I am so confused I just have to ask:
What the hell is this movie about?
I figured out Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, and all of the other
surrealist films with no problem (to my own satisfaction at least), but
this one flew right by me.
Gorgeous to look at, occasionally very creepy, but utterly
incomprehensible.
I am very much supportive of opinions that not every image in a film
has to have a literal meaning, I think that a lot of directors use
images and things for atmosphre and to creat mood and don't always
intend every frame to be symbolic... but again, there was NOTHING in
this movie I connected with... >> Stay informed about: Tarkovsky: The Mirror |

It's a very personal film. It consists of Tarkovski's memories... A lot of
it is about his mother, I think... Absent father. I'd have to see a couple
of times more to elaborate, but there are themes there. Rewatch it.

I agree, Chris. "The Mirror" is definitely my favorite Tarkovsky film
(although "Stalker" comes in at very close 2nd). ;-)

Same here. My list of favorites(all-around, not just Tarkovsky) is
always slowly changing, but -Mirror- has been at the top for a little
while now, and -Stalker- is somewhere right near the top, in the top 6
somewhere. -Solaris- is somewhere in my top 20. >> Stay informed about: Tarkovsky: The Mirror |
