I received the short version of the K-Tek shock mount today. I asked for it
specifically for the new Sanken CS-1.
The CS-1 is unusual in that its slots (side ports) come within about 2" from
the back of the microphone. So, in order to use a foam windscreen, the mount
needs to be shorter than this distance. All other suitable isolation mounts
that I've tried had to rely on the cable connector to support the rear of
the CS-1.
The K-Tek short shock mount looks as if it was designed specifically using
the CS-1 on a boom pole, and shouldn't take much for mounting to a camera. .
It is very lightweight, beautifully machined and should have very good
isolation.
A customer who saw me evaluating the mount insisted on buying it today, but
only after we got some pictures of it with the CS-1. The pictures will be on
our website tomorrow night.
