With FCC and 4G etc issues swirling, is there a definitive guide to
buying wireless units these days?

Boy, I sooo hope to learn the answer to this question at NAB. For now,
I just hope for the best every time I fire up a transmitter...

But if anyone can enlighten me now, I'd love to read the answer. At
least, as long as the answer isn't "move to another country."

Would be nice if there was a viable alternative wireless tech like
Line 6's...though I've heard about bad interference issues.

OK Walter, I'll bite. Line 6? Tell me more.

TIA

Excerpt from http://line6.com/xdr955/faq.html

* It operates outside the DTV band. By now you’ve heard the fuss
over the DTV changeover and the FCC’s reallocation of certain UHF TV
channels. This affects analog wireless systems, not Line 6 Digital
Wireless systems. (See below.)

What's all the fuss over Feb. 2009 FCC compliance and the DTV
changeover?

In a nutshell, many analog wireless systems transmit their signals
over specific radio frequencies that the FCC has decided to reallocate
to emergency broadcast and telecom companies. This has caused many
analog wireless users and manufacturers to freak out. Not us.

Line 6 Digital Wireless systems do not require FCC licenses nor do
they rely on these troubled frequencies to transmit their signals.
Therefore, all Line 6 Digital Wireless users can feel free to ignore
the frenzy. Ignorance is bliss.

AFAIK Line 6 'MI' products does not offer a portable receiver system.
And if their system's technology is 'trouble free' why are Zaxcom,
Lectro, Shure and others still using the "troubled frequencies".

From what I have gathered, these units sound good but have
interference issues in certain situations.
Was just an example of transmitting outside the (unpredictable) box.
