MEDIA INVITATION
David Lynch, top business leaders in Washington
to raise funds for $1 billion endowment for world peace
WASHINGTON NEWS CONFERENCE
Wednesday, December 10
10:30 a.m.: David Lynch, Jeffrey Abramson, and Robert Brown
11:00 a.m.: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (live via satellite feed) and
John Hagelin, Ph.D., President of the US Peace Government
5504 Edson Lane, North Bethesda
Award-winning film director's passion is Peace on Earth
Dear Editor/Producer:
The road to peace is not B-2 bombers, bunker busters, or Patriot Acts. The
road to peace is actually a lighthouse of peace-a University of World
Peace-where 8,000 specially trained experts will accomplish what no military
force can do: calm the acute political, ethnic, and religious tensions that
fuel the violence in Iraq, Israel, and other global hotspots. And they will
do it through the power of meditation.
As unlikely as this notion may sound, dozens of research studies conducted
over the past 20 years and published in top U.S. scientific journals show
that group practice of the Transcendental Meditation program of Maharishi
Mahesh Yogi does reduce violence and conflict. (Please visit
www.PermanentPeace.org.)
And that is why award-winning film director, David Lynch, and several
hundred U.S. business leaders have launched a $1 billion endowment to build
a University of World Peace in America and provide scholarships for the
8,000 meditation experts. Considerable financial support is already flowing
in from peace-loving philanthropists who are convinced there is a better way
to create peace than ineffectual peace talks or destructive weapons and
military intervention.
Lynch has teamed up with Jeffrey Abramson, partner with the Tower
Companies-a prominent D.C.-based real estate development firm-and Robert
Brown, former division CEO with Ziff-Davis, Inc., to help lead the endowment
effort. The group says that the investment income from the fund will be used
for the project; the principal will remain as a basis for permanent world
peace.
What about skeptics who claim that $1 billion is a lot of money for peace?
"Nonsense," Lynch says. "One billion dollars is the price of a wing and a
tailfin of a single B-2 bomber. Here is a chance to create permanent peace
for a small fraction of the $500 billion the government spends every year on
weapons and war-a dangerous strategy that is making our world less safe and
less peaceful every day."
Lynch, Abramson, and Brown will hold a news briefing on the peace plan on
Wednesday, December 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Maharishi Peace Palace in
Bethesda. The news briefing will be followed by an 11:00 a.m. live satellite
feed of a global news conference with Maharishi from his headquarters in
Holland and with Dr. John Hagelin, quantum physicist and President of the US
Peace Government.
I would like to invite you to attend the 10:30 a.m. news briefing and remain
afterwards for Maharishi's news conference.
Sincerely yours,
Mario Orsatti
