Hey guys,

I know this isn't really the place, but I wanted to let you know what
my experience has been with the H2. I've been evaluating it for use on-
body to record from lavs, but have been disappointed in its
performance so far... Hey, for $200, what can you expect? :)

The thread detailing my travails is here:

not noticed the whine problem your account describes, although i found
that plugging a sony stereo mic directly into h2 didn't sound as good
as the internal even though the sony mic (ecm s959) sounded good into
an MD and cost more than the h2.
i HAVE noticed something similar to internal mics being 'ON' when
plugging in an external mic; i found this only happened when using h2
with MENU>MONITOR>ON. it seems that what h2 mean by 'monitor' is
something like 'preview'. i did not record with this set up so i don't
know if it goes to 'file'.

zoom h2 - just took delivery of a zoom h2 (132gbp). not yet made up the lead to plug it into sd302 so no observations in that regard. however, interesting features noticed so far: time stamp. files saved to folders. stereo wav files can be converted by h2 to mp3s....

Zoom H4 mic preamps - Is anyone using a Zoom H4 recorder here? I would like to know how good its mic preamps are. It has been my idea, for some time and about to realize it now, to use some CF based small recorder to do double-system audio simultaneously with my HDV video..

Zoom H4 vs. Sony PCM - D1 - Anybody listened to the new Zoom H4 portable recorder? and perhaps compared it too the $1500 more Sony PCM-D1.....which I bought 6 months ago. Please tell me the Sony blows it away. C

Transcription with Zoom H-2 - I just got my first call in years to do transcription recordings for direct to HD camera interviews. I bought a Zoom H-2 and it seems great, but what is standard practice? An 192k MP3? Do I rename the files with a cam roll # and put each day on it's own....

zoom h4 vs m-audio mt24/96 - asides from connectors, battery and display (the h4 seems to have a calibrated meter) is there any difference in the audio quality? has anyone compared 1 against the other? (wish someone make 1 of these things with a side display like the hi-md mzrh1!)...
