My biggest disappointment was Annette Benning being replaced by Michelle
Pheiffer in Batman Returns. Michelle was great and deserved an Oscar
nomination, but I really would've liked to have seen what Annette would
have done with that role (probably the same thing she did with American
Beauty and Running With Scissors, but still....). Damn Warren Beatty and his
sperm!

| I don't know which is more unlikely--that Edward Woods was cast in the
lead of "Public Enemy" or that it took Wellman a week to replace him
with supporting player Cagney.
(It was probably five minutes after the first rushes started, and five
days to get through to the suits that one of them had made a mistake.)

Well, not really. Lugosi died years earlier. Wood had some silent "home
movie" footage he wanted to spin a feature around. Tom Mason is more of a
stand-in than a replacement, especially since he got no billing, that I
recall.

I think Buddy Ebsen always claimed there was some footage of him as the Tin Man
left in The Wizard of Oz.

You mean he started filming and then someone from CBS showed up at the
studio and said, "Sorry, you'll have to shut down your production and find
someone else for the role -- he's under contract to us"?

See? You're doing it again. I did nothing wrong in this thread.
So I took nick's post seriously, so what? He might have
personally thought Gere and Stallone were macho. I didn't,
obviously, but he might have. How should I know what are
nick's standards for macho? Clearly those two don't fit my
standards, though it's not something I lose any sleep about.
Maloney was wrong to barge in and call me a name, and you
are wrong to pile on. But in this case I wont continue any
defense. Have your last insult, I mean word, and let it go, please. >> Stay informed about: actors replaced when/after shooting starts |
