Referring to an earlier discussion on "scanning" Super-8 film in March this
year, I intend to use the "Workprinter" set-up for the transfer of Super-8
to DVD.
Right now I wonder which type of camcorder would be best for this purpose. I
could imagine that the following properties might be important:
- Manual shutter speeds below the customary 1/60 of a second
- Manual aperture (Iris)
- Manual focus
- Jitter (yagged effects on straight lines)
Are they? Any other desirable properties?
If the choice is between e.g. the 1 CCD Sony DCR-PC330 which has all the
above assets and Panasonic's 3 CCD NV-GS120, which hasn't, what would be my
best bet?
Furthermore, could perhaps a digital photo camera be used to transfer
Super-8 film on a frame-by-frame basis?
I would be most grateful for any comment.
