I am looking buy a camera mount for my wireless receivers. I've got
Lectro 210's and need to easily set up a camera for one or two
receivers without a lot of time, tools or hassle. The cameras are
already set up with gold mount plates. I've looked into Anton Bauer's
ABWMK kit and the BEC kit .

The closest I usually get to check out products is online or through
catalogs, so its sometimes tough to compare items. Any opinions pro
or con on the mounts that are available would be appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Hi John:

The BEC mounting kits work just fine. Their web site is:

www.thebecgroup.com

Feel free to give us a buzz if you have cabling issues.

Best regards,

John,
I forget what the price difference is, as I recall the BEC is a little
more expensive. In my opinion, it's worth it. The AB setup is
essentially the same except for one thing. The BECs are nicely lined
with a soft felt-like material while the A-B box makes use of rubberized
adhesive pads placed around the box to hold the receiver in snugly along
with a nylon screw that I have since lost. Two of my pads have given up
the ghost in the heat and humidity of summers past (mine are only 2-3
years old).

Given a chance to do it over again, I would definitely go BEC. If you
really like the cameraperson, you could get the right-angle attachment
so one of the receivers is on the side of the camera and one is behind
the battery--helps make the camera not so side heavy.

Finally, the other cool thing I have seen on the web (not in person..)
are receiver saddlebags that put one on either side of the battery. I'm
not sure how convenient that would be for battery changes though.

Hope this helps.

The thing that I hate is that there is no standard anymore for bracket
mounting onto video camera backs. When everything was Betacam "SP" there
was a universal 4 screw mount on the back of the NP-1 case for wireless
receiver mounts. I brought the BEC mount and it was great. But it won't
work with Anton Bauer or the Sony Lithium Ion batteries. So now a
soundperson has to buy at least 3 different types of mounts to be able to
put the wireless onto a camera. Not to mention what will happen in the
future when new types and shapes of batteries appear on the market.

That is one of the advantages of the MTO Straddle Bag. It fits any
receiver, and on any camera, over (almost) any battery!
