So who liked Big Fish?

I thought it was a great return to form after PotA.

I loved it. Albert Finney's character reminds me of my grandfather.

Definitely a return to form. That ending was phenomenal.

I really hope this will allow TB to go back to making "Tim Burton"
movies--stuff more along the lines of Edward Scissorhands or Ed Wood. This
was a MAJOR step in the right direction, and possibly his most mature movie
yet.

Who's jazzed for The Corpse Bride?

It's a movie Burton is producing. I don't imagine it'll really have much of a
Burton influence. Out of the movies he's produced, the only one that really
had an obvious Burton influence was "The Nightmare Before Christmas", which was
"Tim Burtons..." after all. I expect "The Corpse Bride" to be more like "James
and the Giant Peach", "Cabin Boy" and "Batman Forever" with Burton not really
serving a creative role in the production. However, Burton's next director's
gig is on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", so that's what most Burton fans
are anticipating. "Big Fish" was great but the poor reception "Planet of the
Apes" experienced pretty much killed this group. If a movie as wonderul as
"Big Fish" can't revive it, I don't know what can. The "Ed Wood" DVD fiasco,
which was huge news on pretty much every Burton and/or DVD site, also didn't
generate much discussion here. I don't see how anything could revive this
group.

Best thing he's done since Ed Wood, easily. I hope it becomes a trend
and Choc Factory ain't another POTA bore of a marketing venture.
Playing it safe didn't really pay off for anybody there -- Burton
making blockbuster movies typically makes me nervous, although Batman
Returns remains one of his best films. That's primarily because it
doesn't feel like a typical blockbuster at all, but like a pure Burton
movie filtered through the Batman character.
