A lot of people had problems with the plot........started out
interesting for me but as soon as you found out who the guy in the
weeds was it sort of fell apart.
Anyway the guy behind it Pete Mander has said it was really an FX test
with a little movie added in.
It was obviously good enough for it to be found at a recent convention
for sale <lol> >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

You're kidding, right? It took them over 2 years to get what we got, I
doubt Pete was ready to toss away another year of his life, and
probably another $5000 or so just to please us. He had an idea of what
he wanted the film to be, realized that was never going to happen for
various reasons, cut his losses and put out what he had. Considering, I
think it was pretty damn well done. Costumes rocked. FX rocked. Music
was good, sound not so good. Acting was above average for fan films.
Sure, the story lacked a bit, that was a natural by-product of the fact
only 40% of his script was actually filmed. I was smart enough to piece
it together and figure out what the general idea was, though, didn't
think it was that hard to figure out. The only thing that left me a
little confused was the action sequence at the end that kind of jumped
around and had Predators fighting Predators, Aliens fighting Predators
in a waterfall, and humans dying all over the place. Up until that
point I understood exactly what was going on. He seemed to do a rush
job of editing which hurt the sound, that and the fact he was teaching
himself how to use Adobe Premiere as he did it, otherwise it was edited
fine. Even the use of the 'green-screen' was fairly seemless.
If you can show me a better fan film (and don't even mention Batman:
Dead End), I'd like to see it. >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

No, I'm not.

Apparently none of that went to rehearsal.

Well bully for you. I read the first three pages of the script and
quickly realized just how screwed up things were.

At least two Star Wars parodies blow it out of the water (and I'm
no StarWars fanboy, let me assure you). The "Cops" satire (with the
drunken wife-beating Uncle Owen) and A Lost Hope. Nobody in SEED came
even close to the acting ability in those two.
What the SEED crew lost sight of is that it's the STORY that's
important. You leave the story on the floor, or don't shoot in the
first place, in favor of just about anything else, and you're left
with...not much. >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

You're missing the point.
I could show you a film that cost about £800 to make, runs to 22 mins, has a
cast of at least 12, a coherrent storyline and a lot better acting.
As for the above;
Costumes rocked?
Well, the predator costumes looked decent, the only time the alien looked
'good' was in the water when it wasn't so obviously a static *head*.
Music? Nothing special.
Script? Appaling.
Story? If there was one, I missed it.
Editing? Bad.
The green-screen, well, I never *noticed* anything that seemed green
screeny, so maybe that's a good thing!

I was referring to Alien-related fan films, not fan films in general.
The Star Wars one you're referring to is Troops, and yes, it was
awesome. >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

Give us something to discuss Alien/(s)/3/ARse wise and we may be able
to accomodate you!
But hey, we are film buffs in general, so a variety of films will be
discussed occasionally (well, because we have covered all aspects of
the Alien series!!!!) :) >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

Exactly. Dead End had Aliens and Predators in it. So let me reiterate,
if you can make a better Alien/Predator fan film, I'd like to see it. >> Stay informed about: S.E.E.D. |

.... + AvP!
I liked AvP more than I liked A:R. And P, and P2 (close, on the second
one).
I watched about 3min of SEED before I switched off. It was *shite*.
I don't mean to disrespect the efforts and hard work of the makers of it,
but... well... what can I say? It's rubbish.
My recommendation for the film makers would be:
1) keep it up: you're obviously keen and have not-some-small drive to make
short films. This is a good thing.
2) as far as acting goes, start smaller and closer to home. It's easier to
act as something one's familiar with
3) aim lower. Walk before you think about running.

And rugby. Don't forget rugby.

Oops! yeah! I *keep* forgetting to include that, I dont know why!!

Yes, I liked AvP more than AR. But I cannot stand that fragmented,
flashing back and forth kinda effects done in a lot of films today,
where the opponents are battling each other but you cant quite keep
track on who's doing what, until one is dead! That effect was used in
all the battle scenes in AvP, and I hated it! Does anyone understand
what I mean?
Loved Predator (its a classic!) and even P2 - and although some people
seem to think Danny Glover was miscast in that film, I think it suited
him perfectly. A middle-aged, slightly puffed out cop battling against
high-techo hunter E.T.'s!

I didnt end up watching it at all!

There is another independant out there - watched it quite a few months
back but cant find the source to send a link - but will endeavour to.
