hello,
i had noticed when The quadrylogie was out that there is
a new color etalonage of the movie and some scenes are
really made different.
When it's just to clean the movie, this is a good point, but
in that case in Alien 1 they change even a basic idear.
I just explain, for exemple, in the scene when Parker is killed
by the Alien after looking for Johnsy, the place has been all
recolored in gold whereas originaly it is more dark and durty.
I really do not like the second treatment as it makes the ship
more pure and clean whereas the basic idear is total contrary:
A durty cargo far from what we see in Star War.
I have not yet find same differents yet with the other aliens.
Other things is that they change too some french post synchro
dialogue in Alien 1 (sometime only a little sentence).
I just wonder why they do this while they got the original dialogue
and the scene does not need to be remade!!!
And last point i just regret that the french post synchro is not
so well done in the new scenes of the quadrilogy whereas it was good
with Alien 2 long version in 92 (6 years after the short version and
there
was not difference heardable in the movie). For the quadrilogy, in the
new scenes we hear the huge difference of ambiance and ton of voice
that we didn't had in 92 with Alien 2... The voice of Ripley is the same
but not in the same level. May be due to budget, they decide to make
new post synchro faster... who knows...
i just wonder if in other language this is the same or not (german,
spanish..)
Hopefully, the best voices are the original english, but i like too the
french voice of Ripley (very close to Sigourney's voice and close to
the original interpretation), so it hurts my ears !!
Bye all, sorry if my english not so good, hope u understand.
And hope this was not said already before in some other thread!!

Haven't seen the new release, but Scott comments in the DVD that
everything in that area was spray-painted gold, just cheap spray cans. >> Stay informed about: New etalonage of Alien 1 |

That is the bad thing for me, cause on the Alien Legacy, the Ridley scott
commentary is not subtitle either in english nor in French (better for me)
that's why i missed certainly some interesting points...
If someone just got it on pdf or text format, let me know!!!
thanks
Richard

Yeah, I understood what he meant - I was just pointing out that what
he observed
wasn't a "re-do" but in the original, so now we should look at something
else causing his
observation, and about all that's left is processing, or his original
viewing was of an old, dirty
worn-out print. I can't see because I haven't seen the new theatrical cut,
but it would
apparently be the way Ridley wanted it, no? ;) (Assuming the man has MADE UP
HIS MIND! Hehehe.) >> Stay informed about: New etalonage of Alien 1 |

I do think this is a re-do as it was not like this on the Legacy DVD...
I do think then Ridley Scoot had the same possibility to change it or not then,
so why do it more now than last DVD?
There is 2 solutions :
1/ First, he just realize this was not like he wanted to be so ask to be
different on the Quadrilogy
2/ Second, this is simply a different color interpretation of the person who
made the ripp or
the machine that made this new one. Many films are new ripped for the next
futur Hi Res DVD,
this means new threatment : so sometime new color managment.
As u can't never have the same result with 2 different "scanerisation", so this
could be too only
a new interpretation by the machine of this scene excused by fox with "new
color etalonage"
but not proved this is absolutly the director's which!
I think more for the 1st solution but the 2nd is credible too, i work as a
graphist and beleive me
i do know very how it works on such industry!!! :-)
What i just meant is that changing these colors in that scene was very
"aggressive",
cause not really a good idear to me (i saw it first on theater last year and
too on Quadrilogie,
but not on Legacy). The Nostromo is more like a old cargo that something clean
like pure gold.
But something true is that The Director never took real part physicaly in the
process of DVD Rip,
they just agree or not about a quality a company have to give, but the Director
do not do
the job himself!!

OK, so - what about a name like Ricard, as in Circuit Ricard (Paul
Ricard) - totally different name, a different form, or...? (I'm assuming
Paul Ricard was a Frenchman, lending his name to ya'all's former F1 track.) >> Stay informed about: New etalonage of Alien 1 |

That's actually the same guy, I think. The history of the track I
read refers to "Paul Ricard,
the drinks magnate" or something like that. >> Stay informed about: New etalonage of Alien 1 |
