What are the best French films? Especially for someone who doesn't know a word;
besides, great movies has to succeed language barrier.

Let me get the list started, heading toward a top 10:

L'Atalante Jean Vigo (1934)
The Rules of the Game (1939)
The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
