Rocky Horror and Harold and Maude are both overrated.

How about El Topo(The Mole), Beyond the Valley of the Dolls(Basically any
Russ Meyer film), Putney Swope, Dr. Strangelove, David Holtzman's Diary,
Andy Warhol's Trash, Desperate Living, The Man Who Fell To Earth, and so
many others.

By the way what is a cult, I think among other people that it is a
ridiculous term.

Is Dr Strangelove still classed as a cult film? I though it had moved in to
classic.

I think the terms cult and genre have been merged in to one. No one outside
of the actual film fans ever use either term. And seeing as films come out
and are cult after about 2 days, or are called cult films before they even
come out, it's become moot.

I'm pretty new here but my guess is that this NG is for the weird, the
wonderful and the low budget. B movies and the like. What I've seen so far
pretty much matches up... So I would use that as a definition of cult.

One of the definitions in my dictionary is just a group
whose members venerate the same thing, person, idea.. whatever.

So, by that definition, other than the religious, just about
any fan club is a "cult." All its members revere the same
actor/singer/pop star/whoever. In this case it's just a
movie with such a following.

Sammy Petrillo and Duke Mitchell. Did these guys ever do anything else? It
was completely obvious
that they were imitating Lewis and Martin.

Sammy Petrillo was involved in a softcore flick from the 70s called KEYHOLES
ARE FOR PEEPING. He never really made much of an impact after the Jerry
Lewis ripoff days. Duke Mitchell, on the other hand, made a gem of a film in
the late 70s entitled THE EXECUTIONER, which he partially funded himself,
and is a complete Z-grade ripoff of THE GODFATHER. Over the top acting,
gore, and other elements make this a sure fire gem of a cult picture. In my
opinion, THE EXECUTIONER is much more entertaining than BROOKLYN GORILLA
ever was. One of my personal favorites!!
