Am shooting a short that takes place in a NYC bar and would like to get
some lighting ideas from recent films with bar scenes. Any
recommendations?

Any Conrad Hall film will serve as an excellent lighting example. I
remember one, (but not the name), that starred Stacey Keach in a gritty
bar scene in Modesto, California.

"Recent" does not necessarily denote the best...
