Decided to check "Waitress" out as a change-of-pace during Memorial
Day weekend (having already seen the "Big 3" of May blockbuster three-
quels) and I was pleasantly surprised that it was very well done.
Keri Russell has certainly grown as an actress from her "Felicity"
days. Her Jenna character was absolutely adorable without being
overly saccharine; you feel for her and really begin to root for her
as the movie unfolds, and it doesn't seem forced.
Yes, it is a romantic comedy (some may say "chick flick"), so I have a
feeling most women will probably enjoy "Waitress" more than most men
will,
but IMHO, unlike, say, "Just My Luck" or "The Break-Up" (which I've
also seen, unfortuntately) it's a rom-com the average guy can see
without wanting to jump out the window by the end of the movie. :)
If you're tired of blockbuster sequels and want an alternative, I'd
definitely suggest seeing it, it's worth the price of admission.
