"{I found] William Paley "too much of a gentleman, I mean, in bed.
He didn't thrill me. Chaplin was the same." --Louise Brooks talking
to Kenneth Tynan, as quoted in A HELL OF A FADE-OUT in April's VANITY
FAIR.

I spotted that Tynan article on the newsstand but haven't read it yet.

I've heard (through which channels I won't explain) that Tynan's son
has been working on a play about his father's relationship with Louise
Brooks.

I get the feeling that Louise Brooks liked to be dominated by her men,
and was always disappointed when she didn't get it a bit rough.

That's mentioned in the article. It's actually a proposed film
written by his late mother, based on the original tapes of Tynan and
Brooks.

All 450 of them, according to the article--or 451, if you include
Tynan.

...Which made Tynan a kindred spirit.

I'd settle for a transcript of the original interviews in Q&A format.

Very much so.

Le vice anglais is called that for a reason.

Her account in the Barry Paris book gives a different impression, for
whatever that's worth. She describes Chaplin as a sophisticated
lover, though I suppose one could also be a gentleman. But her story
about the nude dance sounds at least slightly ungenteel.
