Post subject: Was it a ghost? .. Was it fun?
Archived from groups: alt>movies>hitchcock (more info?)

It just struck me that, in 'Vertigo', when Scottie has finished
following 'Madeleine' around the streets of San Francisco for the first
day (ending at the blank that is the large house on the corner of Gough
and Eddy) .. and he returns to her hotel and sees her parked car
outside, his *peering stare* through her windscreen at the bouquet is
probably his attempt at ascertaining that he did indeed follow a living
breathing human being all day and not some ghost; the bouquet,
purchased by 'Madeleine' during her travels, is proof of sorts that she
really did travel.

In other words, he may still be the hard-headed Scott .. but as a
made-to-order witness for a labyrinthine conspiracy, he's already been
landed.

A decent copy of the "The 39 Steps" - I'm upset that I cannot find a decent copy of "The 39 Steps" (1935). The copy I made off of TV years ago has 20 commercials and is snowy. The two used VHS cassette tapes I purchased over a period of a year are both terrible prints--snowy, the...
