I understand that George Romero revolutionzed the horror genre, and
reinvented what the word "zombie" means, when he filmed his classic "Night
of the Living Dead". But can anyone reccomend any really good zombie movies
that were filmed before this?

I highly recommend Val Lewton's "I Walked with A Zombie" (1943).It's one of
the most atmospheric horror movies I've ever seen - sort of a voodoo/zombie
reworking of Jane Eyre set on a West Indies island.

White Zombie is a classic. Let Sleeping Corpses Lie is also good, though it was
filmed after NOTLD, but before Dawn of the Dead.

What zombie movie is this? - I watched it as a kid, but not too young, so probably mid 80's, but the movie may have been older. Anyway, it takes place in a very rural, "backwater" setting. I remember a scene with a sheriff watching a young lady skinny dip (hey, this sort...

Recommendable zombie/Voodoo films? - No, I don't mean trash like "Dawn of the Scooby Dead 2004", and not classic Romero-ish movies, either, but rather films that deal with Voodoo, Santeria, "zombification" as a cultural phenomenon, etc... Films such as "The Serpent ...
