Lots of Billy Mayerl music on CDs.

Others may be interested in this too: The link to WFMU by Ken has a
episode featuring cuts from the Jewface CD (and an interview with the
compiler). I finally got to hear 'Cohen owes me $97':

This just leaves me "Cohen on the Telephone" to check off of my not-
heard-yet list. Anyone know where that is online?

I don't get the swipe.......or is it just the usual knee-jerk
gratuitous Maria Newman swipe? Gee, it's been a while since we've
been graced with one of those!

Does that a drop the needle score gets respect, where an original
score from the likes of Ms. Newman doesn't? I think I figured that
much out.

Sure.....to each his own, but I don't get it....a needle dropper over
an actual scene-specific score.....seems backwards to me.

Newman is hit or miss, in my opinion. Her score for "Daddy Long-Legs"
was quite good, her score for "Heart Of the Hills" was . . . misguided.
I think many people could come up with a needle-drop score for the
latter that would serve the picture better.

But you're right -- she's become a pet peeve here for many, an easy
target that no longer requires any considered appraisal of her work.

And not that I'd like to encourage pirating, but the Frederick Hodges
piano scores on Chris Snowden's Unknown Video DVD release of the
Wallace Reid duo "The Roaring Road"and "Excuse My Dust" are first
rate. Frederick is one of the finest ragtime piano players I've ever
heard.
