searching for it online, i find only used VHS available for $44 a
pop. no dvd.
is this film wrapped up in some sort of copyright dispute? it would be
popular enough to send out in dvd, considering some of what's out
there. julie christie, alan bates, michael redgrave in his last role,
a gorgeous michel legrand score. yet it's almost embargoed! what's
going on? >> Stay informed about: why is 'the go-between' so hard to find? |

A quick search shows that it is available in the UK but not North America.

My public library system has about 1/2 dozen copies of this opus. I
just ordered one.

There are about 40 copies in VHS form available in libraries all over
the United States.
Suggest you get to know the reference librarian in your local town or school
library (and take her/him a cupcake).

Well, the English DVD -- which is open-matte 1.33 -- is Optimum, which
is a fairly dodgy label, but the North American rights are Sony (the
VHS was in the old Columbia Tri-star catalogue, so....)
It may need restoration, there may be some sort of rights issues
involved, and Columbia has an erratic track record on catalogue
issues.
