please help find this film

years ago i watched a film about a man who fell in love with a girl he
met whilst on a sea voyage. The girl turned out to be his long lost
daughter and the film ended tragically when she was bitten by a snake
and died. I seem to remember the film contained a lot of coincidences
i also recall that in the final moments of the film the main character
was possibly in a train station deciding where to go next. sorry but
thats all i can remember, ive searched most of the film plot databases
on the net but cant seem to find a match
