I remember as a child watching a movie on TV during the 70s that had a
scene like this:

A few people are trapped inside a Volkswagon van on a beach. It is
night, and they can only see outside as far as their headlights. The
sound of a stampede, & animals can be heard. A loudspeaker is telling
them not to leave the van, and they'll be safe from the animals.
Someone inside the van is screaming that there are no animals outside,
the loudspeaker is lying.

Does anyone know what movie this was from?

There was lots more that I don't remember. This was just one scene.
I believe it was a something-we-cant-explain-is-out-there Island-of-Dr-
Moreau/Lost type of movie.

NO idea, but is sounds cool. How do you sustain an entire movie out of this
premise, however? Sounds more Night Gallery-ish.

Not familiar, and I tried using IMDb "Keyword" search on your clues of
Volkswagen, van, beach, and stampede. No hits. You may want to try
it with some simliar keywords from your memory and see if it comes up.

As I recall, the only animal present was inside the van: a Partridge.

It sounds very good. Was it American, British or Canadian?
What age group were the people in the van, and were they hippies?
(I only ask about the hippies because 70s and VW van sort of puts
hippies into the spotlight.)

Guessing only, but could possibly be either:

Maneaters Are Loose! (1978)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077902/

or

Day of the Animals (1977)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075913/

DOTA isnt a tv movie, but has similar production values

Hope it helps

Joe

Even worse, it has a psychotic, muscled up, bare chested Leslie Neilson
proving his human superiority by going bare handed against a pissed off
grizzly, just to teach it who the boss is.....

For the life of me, it reminds me of Groundskeeper Willie in The Simpsons,
who loves to tear of his shirt at the drop of a hat, to show off his pecs
and 6 pack.

In the Who Killed Mr. Burns show, Groundskeeper Willie lived up to his
name and showed off more than his six-pack, a la Sharon Stone.

Given half a chance, Heston in his prime would have been more than happy
to show his magnificent backside, too, as he did in _Planet of the Apes_.

Likewise, Kirk Douglas, who could barely keep his clothes in his 50s and
60s films like _Ulysses_, _Spartacus_, and _20,000 Leagues Under the Sea_.

Jenny Agutter must be the female equivalent.
